I just read this: The North Shore has the highest number of women with children under six in the labour force than anywhere else in BC. In addition to this, childcare costs are higher on the North Shore than anywhere else in the province. In a 2001 survey done by the North Shore Health Region, 15% of North Shore children entering kindergarten were assessed as not having all, or some of the skills necessary to learn.

My feeling is that when it comes to raising children it's best to take a simplistic approach. I ask myself, "What did my ancestors do?". We are, after all, animals. We should be able to raise and rear our offspring without any books or experts to tell us how - it should be natural. SO many people talk about getting a "break" from their kids. You'll get a break. A big, long break. When they are 15 years old and want NOTHING to do with you. Until then, enjoy the feeling of being so wanted and so loved. And if you're tired, turn off the TV and go to bed a bit earlier. CSI will always be there in reruns, you know.
